2014’s Top 15 Search Engines

The terms “Yahoo it” or “Bing it” certainly do not roll off the tongue quite like “Google it” does. This has become such a common term in our society today because Google is such an overwhelmingly popular search engine. Everybody uses it!

Bing and Yahoo are the second and third most popular search engines, but you probably could have guessed that. As hard as it may seem to believe, there are people out there that still pull up other search engines to get to the bottom of whatever is on their mind at that time. Here are the top 15 most popular search engines as of the first quarter of 2014 according to eBizMBA and the amount of estimated unique monthly visitors they are each generating:

15. Alhea.com – 7,500
14. Contenko.com – 8,000
13. Blekko.com – 9,500,000
12. DuckDuckGo.com – 10,000,000
11. Dogpile.com – 10,500,000
10. Info.com – 12,500,000
9. Infospace.com  – 24,000,000
8. MyWebSearch.com – 65,000,000
7. Webcrawler.com – 60,000,000
6. WOW.com – 66,000,000
5. AOLsearch.com – 75,000,000
4. Ask.com – 145,000,000
3. Yahoo.com – 250,000,000
2. Bing.com  – 300,000,000
1. Google.com – 1, 100,000,000

As you can see, Google dominates all, garnering nearly four times more new monthly visitors than Bing, its stiffest competition. Do you see any names on there that you’re not familiar with? Go ahead and give them a whirl and see how you like the results of whatever you search. We kind of doubt it, but maybe you and your friends will start saying “Dogpile it” one day.
